Biography

Marie Rose Arong is an Assistant Professor at the University of the Philippines Cebu where she teaches communication and literature courses. Her recent publications include: “Towards a Philippine Transnation: Dreaming a Philippines in Ninotchka Rosca’s State of War,” which she co-wrote with Daniel Hempel, (ARIEL, April 2017) and “Temporality in Nick Joaquin’s The Woman Who Had Two Navels (Kritika Kultura, March 2018). Her research interests include: narratology, Philippine literature, postcolonial fiction, graphic narratives, and Cebuano history and culture. (corresponding author: mbarong@up.edu.ph)
