Muling Pagkatha: Ang Kasaysayan ng Bayang Ginigising ng Hele sa Hiwagang Hapis ni Lav Diaz

Tinalakay ng papel na ito kung paanong kinathang muli ni Lav Diaz ang kasaysayan ng bansa sa kaniyang pelikulang Hele sa Hiwagang Hapis. Ipinanukala ng papel na nagbabago ang pagpapakahulugan sa mga pangyayari sa nakaraan sa pagsasanib ng mga elemento mula sa ating panitikan at mitolohiya na hindi isinama sa mga opisyal na talâ ng mga historyador. Kaya ang kinikilalang kasaysayan ay maituturing na kulang o huwad dahil nilaktawan ang mga detalye mula sa paghaharaya ng mamamayan. Layon ng papel na ipamalas na nabubuo ang isang bersiyon ng kasaysayan sa interaksiyon ng mga karakter na aakalaing hindi mapagtatagpo para iwasto ang mga pagkukulang ng kinikilalang kasaysayan sa kasalukuyan. Magiging batayan sa pag-aaral ang Historiographic Metafiction ni Linda Hutcheon upang ipaliwanag ang paggamit ng akda sa historya sa pagtatangkang mapabuti ito. Habang ipaliliwanag ng Metahistory ni Hayden White ang silbi ng mga tinanggal na mito at panitikan sa naratibo ng lumipas.

Abstract
This paper discusses how Lav Diaz re-creates the country’s history through his film Hele sa Hiwagang Hapis (A Lullaby to the Sorrowful Mystery). The paper proposed that the interpretation of past events changes by integrating elements from literature, folklore, and mythology that are excluded from the official records of historians. Therefore, the recognized narrative of the past may be seen as incomplete or deceptive because it has omitted details from the imagination of its population. This paper aims to demonstrate that a version of history is formed through the interaction of characters, both real and imagined, who are thought to never meet each other, to correct the shortcomings of the accepted history. The analysis of the film is based on Linda Hutcheon’s Historiographic Metafiction to explain how the film works in history in an attempt to improve it, while Hayden White’s Metahistory will be utilized to explain to rationalize the incorporation of deleted myths, folklores, and literature in the narrative of the past.
