Abstract
“Networks of Meaning”
Our current society is constructed and maintained through communication. From the simplest interactions to the most complex societal structures, communication is the fundamental building block. The cover design resembles a “banig,” a traditional sleeping mat commonly used in many regions of the Philippines. Traditionally woven and passed through generations, this image represents decades of evolution of the Plaridel Journal. Its strength lies in the interconnected and constant flow of information and ideas. As communication flows, patterns emerge, forming larger social structures and cultural norms. The two human images formed by the woven patterns, with lines and nodes emerging from the tapestry, represent the very ideas of communication, illuminating the network and driving its evolution. The lines show interconnected nodes, each representing an individual or a social group, highlighting the constant flow of ideas and information in various contexts. The main color palette is shades of blue and orange, symbolizing the duality of communication, information exchange, and meaning-making.
