Biography

JOSE S. BUENCONSEJO studied musicology at the University of the Philippines, the University of Hawaii, and at the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned his doctorate in 1999. He has taught at the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Hong Kong, and the University of the Philippines where he is Associate Professor in the College of Music. He currently serves as liaison officer for the Philippines in the International Council for Traditional Music (ICTM) and is the incumbent Dean of UP College of Music (corresponding author: jose.buenconsejo@gmail.com).
